General Information Measuring When measuring the perimeter of the room, be sure to add 300mm to 600mm (1 to 2 extra ft) per corner or offset to allow for wastage of mitres. Also consider any waste in the pattern match. Plaster coving is only sold in full lengths. Finish Architectural Products are supplied in natural white. Please note, that plaster moulded surfaces are porous until painted. Painting Architectural Products will accept acrylic, water based or oil-based paint finish. However, Architectural Products should be primed before painting with a very thin oil based primer if using an acrylic or oil based paint finish. Base surfaces The ideal surface for Architectural Products is unpainted drywall or plaster surface. If the surface has been previously painted then it is strongly recommended that the paint be removed or sanded to enable a key where the plaster cement can bond. Wallpaper and any loose debris must be completely removed at the location of the new plasterwork before installation. It is not recommended to fix Architectural Products over tiles, marble, granite or materials such as stainless steel, but if this is required, then a thick acrylic type adhesive should be used to form a workable bond. Delivery. We will always endeavour to supply your products in a timely manner, and much of the time, we will have products in stock. However due to increasing demand for some popular items, it may be necessary to advise of a delivery time. If this should happen, we undertake immediately, to inform you of the expected available date. Can Architectural Products be used externally? Architectural Products are intended for internal use only. They should never be used for external applications. Plaster can get wet occasionally without damage, but if it is repeatedly subjected to a wet and dry cycle it will deteriorate. Are Architectural Products fireproof? Plaster is fireproof and it will not give off smoke in a fire. Plaster has a fire rating similar to concrete and is often used to protect steel beams and other structural elements in buildings. Handling and Storage Architectural Products being constructed from plaster are not immune to abuse in handling. They should be handled with care and all protective packaging should be kept intact until ready to be installed. Furthermore, Cornice and other lengths of plaster should be stored vertically or failing that, should be rested on edge. On no account should they be laid on the flat, as this could cause distortion and cracking. When unpacking, it may be necessary to remove excess dust. This is best done using a dry cloth or vacuum. Using a damp cloth is not recommended, as this could cause the dust to penetrate the porous surface on the product. If this occurs, the problem can be overcome by applying the first coat of undercoat paint to seal the product. Installation Architectural Products do not install products. However, we can recommend installers when requested. Architectural Products do not accept any liability in arrangements made between our customers and installers.
